Lovely little edition. And Aeschylus was always my favorite.

"Exiles feed on bitter dreams of hope..." The line is Aegisthus', from the Agamemnon. I always bear it in mind.

Aeschylus speaks from another age. The shift is tangible when one moves to Sophocles. How'd you find me? (I want to say through tristia?) At any rate, welcome aboard.

Cordially,

Via Tristia, yes.

Of course-- I'm always more a fan of Mycenaean and Archaic Greece than of later days... Too much M.I. Finley in my youth, maybe.

You're not the first one on whom Finley's scholarship has had that effect but- isn't it wonderful that we don't have to choose? ;)

Homer is divine. I have some rudimentary translations of A and Z on my homepage, in case you're interested.
